The Verandah Resort, Ao Nang

The Verandah is well located 5 minutes walk from Ao Nang’s beachfront (click here for map), but this isn't what makes it, for many people, currently Ao Nang's best budget resort. The rooms are clean and as comfortable as is to be expected from a 2-star resort. The breakfast is unremarkable, but perfectly edible. What makes this budget resort special is that its owners also own the nearby 4-star Peace Laguna Resort, so guests at the Verandah can use the facilities at the 4-star resort, including its 4 swimming pools. This makes the Verandah a brilliant option for families, particularly as the Verandah offers connecting rooms and extra beds. The Peace Laguna isn't such a great place to stay, as the rooms are not the best value for money that can be found in Ao Nang for the room rates charged. But as a place for guests at the Verandah to hang out for free, its a brilliant place.

For families, the Verandah is currently the clear favourite budget resort in town. Couples who are going to be out on trips a lot, however, may feel that they won't have the energy to go swimming in the Peace Laguna Pools, so prefer a place with a great view, such as one of the top floor rooms at the J Hotel.
